The Herdy (Herdwick) Hut is our flagship contemporary shepherd hut and is a great place to start when looking for a hut. This design takes the traditional shepherd hut and brings it right up to the present day with Scandinavian design influences, high-quality materials used throughout, year-round usability and the wow factor.
The Herdwick is most commonly used as a garden office, garden snug, studio or playroom as it is the smallest of our huts being approximately 3.8m x 2.4m.
As all our huts are built to order we can easily use this style and design a hut to suit you, such as changing the size, layout of doors or cladding to name a few.

The huts pictured show various different design and materials choices that completely transform the look of the hut. We have done huts with vertical cedar cladding on the outside and oak interior walls for a more modern look as well as huts with horizontal larch cladding and painted T&G interiors for a more rustic countryside style.
We also offer log burning stoves, stylish electric heaters, timber or metal chassis, various lighting styles as well as built-in furniture.

All huts that we build are bespoke for each customer, enabling you to choose your details such as the internal and external cladding, flooring and lighting to name just a few.
When we say bespoke that is what we mean here at Cedar & Oak, you can choose everything right down to where you want the plug sockets to go.

How often does a project come in on time and on budget? Cedar and Oak did just this and more.
Our Shepherds hut is to be used as a home office but also has enhanced a rather neglected part of the garden. Peter built a
beautiful bespoke hut exactly to our requirements, complete with small stove, stunning farrow and ball paint finish and
lovely wooden floor. We were very pleased with the service throughout the build, Peter always kept us up to date with the process.
On delivery day the hut had to be manoeuvred over a challenging rockery, but this was no problem for the boys and
now the hut looks like it has always been there.
